Heat and cold therapies are both useful but should be used to ease different types of pain.
Cold therapy is ideal for newly injured or swollen areas, such as strains, sprains, or sports injuries.
This is because cold therapy slows down the blood flow to the affected area, reducing swelling and soft tissue damage.
On the other hand, heat therapy is ideal for older injuries or chronic pain, like muscle and joint pain or stiffness.
This is because heat therapy encourages blood flow to the affected area, which provides the oxygen and nutrients your body needs to repair.

Biofreeze is not designed to be used on burns.
If you have a minor burn, we would recommend following the first aid advice given by the NHS, beginning with cooling the burn in running cool or lukewarm water for around 20 minutes.
If you have a larger or more serious burn, make sure you seek immediate medical attention, including a visit to your local A&E department, if necessary.
Biofreeze is suitable to use on all skin types, but if you’re worried about how your skin will react to these products, we’d recommend testing it on a small area of skin before use.
This will help you to see whether your skin will react, and reduce the chance of more widespread irritation.
